A tabernacle is a fixed, locked box in which, in some Christian churches, the Eucharist is 'reserved' (stored). A less common use is a portable dwelling and worship structure described in the Bible as being used by the Israelites during the Exodus from Egypt. In both senses, the tabernacle serves as a place for divine presence and worship.
